The Service Eligibility Screen is used to define the age, service and/or points requirements that must be met before service can accrue under this Service Definition (i.e., an Eligibility Provision). Here, you also identify a service start date override, if the override is defined by a Historical Date.
Multiple Eligibility Provisions are needed if the specific set of requirements for the Service Definition vary through time, with each provision defining the set of conditions for a given time period.
- Period: details the period of time for which this Eligibility Provision applies. The Effective Date is the start of the first period these particular parameters are applicable and the Stop Date is the end date. If the provision continues to apply without an end date, check the None box for the Stop Date.
- Age/Service/Points Requirements: use this area to specify the age, service and/or points requirements that must be met before service may accrue under the Service Definition.
Use the "+" and "-" buttons to add and delete a Requirement, respectively. Once added, double click to access the Age/Service/Points Requirement screen. Here, you enter a specific age, service, and/or points combination used to determine the date service accrual begins. The applicable date for a single Requirement is the date that all conditions are met.
Multiple Requirements can be set up and combined to create a Requirements Group. Within a single Requirements Group, a Person becomes eligible for service accrual on the date that all requirements are met. If more than one Requirements Group is included, service accrual begins on the earliest date of all the groups, i.e., when a Person first satisfies one set of requirements.
- Backend Age Eligibility Limit: a Person will not be eligible for this service if his/her age exceeds this limit when first employed.
- Eligibility Override: check the eligibility override box to override the date defined by the Age/Service/Points Requirements above with the indicated date, if such date exists for a Person. Select the Date Classification and Date Type that identifies the specific override.
The system will determine eligibility for service accrual using the requirements specified above unless a date exists in the override field. In this case, it will use the override date.
- Assume that all conditions required for accrual have been met as of this initial eligibility date: check this box if a person should begin accruing, regardless of other accrual requirements.
